About A Dance of Light
Artist Statement

A Dance of Light glass art studio was conceived by Brooks Wilson and his wife, Melissa Ferrell, in 1991 in Fresno, California. The purpose was to create not only traditional and contemporary glass art, but especially that which was unusual and unique for homes and places of business. Though Melissa died of cancer in 1998, Brooks has carried on with their vision.

Brooks specializes in leaded and etched glass art for such things as sidelights, room dividers, transoms, cabinet and door panels, and fire screens. All creations are custom, one-of-a-kind art.

Brooks will go to the patron’s home or business to gain a better understanding of the patron’s personality and taste in order to achieve the ultimate, harmonious outcome. He encourages patrons to participate in the development process as much as they may desire. It is beneficial for them to understand the glass art medium as much as possible in order to gain the maximum appreciation for their investment.

In 2007, with a desire to expand the business, Brooks purchased a commercial building in Chama, New Mexico, for the purpose of creating an art gallery which not only featured his glass art, but offered other, chosen artists an opportunity to showcase their work. After extensive remodeling, the gallery came alive 1 October 2008.

The gallery has space for special exhibitions and shows plus a quiet area where one can sit by a cheery stove with a cup of coffee or tea and contemplate the beautiful pieces displayed. The facility is also available for hosting small, intimate parties or events. Refreshments and limited catering services are available for that special occasion.
